Do you see this homophobic garbage Twitter is pulling?

Ava and I are working on our piece for THIRD this week, and as I noted here, it's going to be on BROS.  So we're pulling up some stuff including what I'd written in snapshots here.  I want you to look at the following and note please the second Tweet:

We're back to BROS and we're back to my marveling over how some people are so uninformed and some are taking part in the backlash without even grasping it.

BROS is the best comedy of 2022. Billy Eichner co-wrote the screenplay and he stars in the film with Luke Macfarlane.  People

Did you see that second Tweet?

Twitter is censoring.  This is what they're censoring (click on "VIEW TWEET" above if you don't believe me):

Of that photo, they say, "The following media includes potentially sensitive content. Change settings"

WTF.

I don't go back to my own stuff most of the time but we're hoping to pull from a lot of stuff previously written so we're not spending over five hours on the piece we're writing.

But I want it noted, TWITTER is censoring that photo.  Twitter says that photo "includes potentially sensitive content."

It's outrageous.

Isaiah's latest THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS "Hot Topics With THE PEW."  Marjorie Taylor Green frets, "I walked out on the radio interview but I don't want to be seen as aggressive and manly."  Lauren Boebert consoles her with, "Oh, hon, that ship done sailed and sunk.  Praise Jesus." Tulsi Gabbard pipes up, "Guru Chris says there are bio labs in Kansas that attack Marians and the Easter Bunny."   Isaiah archives his comics at THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS.

Dr Dumb Idiot and others defend Scott Ritter -- who will defend the Iraqi children dead from sanctions?

Convicted sex offender Scott Ritter trended on Twitter in the 24 hour cycle.  Why was that?  Because a number of very gross people were recommending him.  And the pushback was intense -- and it was from all sides.

America does not embrace pedophiles.

It was cute to watch idiotic supporters of Pig Ritter.  Take this idiot.

Dr Lilliana Corredor quotes a claim that the charges were dismissed after he completed six months of probation.  First off, dumb moron, six months of probation is telling you the charges were real.  But she really flaunts her stupidity then asking, "Where do the trolls get their info that he was impmrisoned from 2011 - 2014?"

From the public record, Dr Dumb Moron, from the public record.  Ritter was arrested multiple times, you stupid idiot.

From CRAPAPEDIA:

Arrests and conviction for sex offences

Ritter was the subject in two law enforcement sting operations in 2001.[34] He was charged in June 2001 with trying to set up a meeting with an undercover police officer posing as a 16-year-old girl.[35][36] He was charged with a misdemeanor crime of "attempted endangerment of the welfare of a child". The charge was dismissed and the record was sealed after he completed six months of pre-trial probation.[36][6] After this information was made public in early 2003, Ritter said that the timing of the leak was politically motivated in order to silence his opposition to the Bush administration's push toward war with Iraq.[35][36][37]

Ritter was arrested again in November 2009[38] over communications with a police decoy he met on an Internet chat site. Police said that he exposed himself, via a web camera, after the officer repeatedly identified himself as a 15-year-old girl.[2] Ritter said in his own testimony during the trial that he believed the other party was an adult acting out her fantasy.[5] The chat room had an 'age 18 and above' policy, which Ritter stated to the undercover officer.[2]

The next month, Ritter waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was released on a $25,000 unsecured bail. Charges included "unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communications facility, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, possessing instruments of crime, criminal attempt and criminal solicitation".[39] Ritter rejected a plea bargain and was found guilty of all but the criminal attempt count in a courtroom in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on April 14, 2011.[2][40]

In October 2011, he received a sentence of 1½ to 5½ years in prison.[41] He was sent to Laurel Highlands state prison in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, in March 2012 and paroled in September 2014.[4][5][6]

Is that clear enough for you dumb bitch promoting Scott Ritter?  I'm sorry that you live in a bubble and believe you're getting the truth.

You clearly aren't, you're clearly an uninformed idiot who spent 24 hours on Twitter flaunting your ignorance and defending a predator.

Some other idiots feel the need to quote Predator Ritter himself:

Let me make it crystal clear for Tabach and all the other keyboard warriors who engage in this particular form of name calling: I was never accused, charged, arrested, tried, convicted or sentenced for any crime involving pedophilia.

Tabach’s giggling, and that of his two Lithuanian hosts, while he spoke the words in question spoke volumes about the character of the man and the program.

I committed no crime. I pled innocent because I am innocent. The trial was a gross miscarriage of justice. I have appealed my conviction and continue to do so to this day. And I have explained this during several interviews, most recently on September 16, 2022.

Pedophile?  You can be called that.  I'm calling you that.  Some will argue that a pedophile is someone who preys on children of the single-digit age.  Others will apply the term to those who prey on the underage of consent.

It's splitting hairs.  You're a pedo and you lie all the time.

You did commit a crime and you were convicted of it in a court of law.   This is The Times-Union from October 26, 2011:

Testifying Wednesday at a pre-sentencing hearing was prosecution witness Paula Brust of the Pennsylvania Sex Offenders Assessment Board who said Ritter met the criteria as a sexually violent predator. She referred to the Colonie cases, and defense attorney W. Gary Kohlman of Washington, D.C., made a standing objection to any reference to those earlier incidents, Rakaczewski said.

The defense called Richard Hamill, a clinical psychologist from Albany, who testified that Ritter was receiving sex offender treatment, the prosecutor said.

So Richard Hamill was treating Ritter for his being a sex offender -- and Ritter's own defense felt that would help him, they brought the therapist into court to explain that Ritter was already in treatment -- in sex offender treatment.

That's the public record, Dr. Dumb Bitch.  And it's the public record because Scott Ritter's attorney made it the public record.

Paula Brust?  Prosecution witness.  Richard Hamill?  Put on the stand by Ritter's own attorneys.

He was convicted.

Some idiots want to say "thought crimes."  Oh, did you just watch THE MINORITY REPORT?

This isn't pre-crimes.  Nor is it thought crimes.  This is Scott Ritter beating off online and broadcasting it with a webcam.

There's no defense for him and he can lie all he wants but he was convicted.  He was sent to prison.  And he is now a registered sex offender.

The idiots elevating him tend to want you to know that he was right about Iraq.

Really?  That's so interesting to those of us who were speaking out before the war.  But let's note this ;

Mr Denis Halliday, an Irishman with over 30 years UN experience, will step down as UN Humanitarian Co-ordinator in Iraq this month. According to European press reports Mr Halliday was increasingly frustrated at the effect of the sanctions on the Iraqi people and was highly critical of the sanction program. In contrast, American arms inspector Mr Scott Ritter, who had been working for UNSCOM, the UN agency with responsibility for the decommissioning of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, resigned in August because he felt that the UN and the international community were being far too accommodating to the Iraqi government.

Those of us against the war gladly applauded Denis Halliday.  We weren't impressed with Ritter.  We weren't impressed because he was a War Hawk.  We weren't impressed because we called out Mad Maddy Albright for her claims that the life destroying sanctions "were worth it" -- "it" being the deaths of at least a half-million Iraqi children.   And we weren't impressed with Ritter who also felt that these sanctions -- responsible for the deaths of so many Iraqi children -- worked.

I'm sorry that Dr Dumb Bitch and people like her are so damn stupid.  I'm sorry that they think can get away with rewriting history and pretending that Scott Ritter was consistent in his remarks or that he was a dove of peace.

He was garbage then and he's garbage now.  The only difference is that now he's also a registered sex offender.

Millions around the world rallied against the upcoming Iraq War -- and most of us had never heard of Scott Ritter -- it was a kinder time.

Quit promoting him as some voice of truth.  He was not.  That is a complete rewrite of history.

There were voices of truth and there were people who were trashed for speaking out.

How typical that revisionary liars would erase all the women to glorify a man who did nothing.  How typical.

Of course, like John Kerry, Ritter was for the war before he was against it:

Drawing additional international attention to the situation in Iraq was the public resignation of William S. "Scott" Ritter, Jr., previously chief of UNSCOM's investigations into Iraq's proscribed weapons concealment activities, on August 26. In an angry letter to Richard Butler, executive chairman of UNSCOM, Ritter denounced the Security Council's refusal to enforce its resolutions against Iraq and condemned Secretary-General Kofi Annan for allowing his "grand office" to be used "as a sounding board for Iraqi grievances, real or imagined."

[. . .]

(The FBI is reportedly investigating charges that Ritter improperly exchanged intelligence with other nations while at UNSCOM, a claim Ritter denies.)

Following his resignation, Ritter publicly warned that Iraq could reconstruct its chemical, biological and ballistic missile programs in six months or less and charged that Iraq already possesses three complete nuclear devices that lack only their fissile material cores. Ritter also claimed that Baghdad has used the UN-supervised oil-for-food program to smuggle proscribed and dual-use materials.

As we have noted repeatedly over the years at this site, the 2003-US-led invasion is only the latest phase of the ongoing Iraq War.  And we defended Beto O'Rourke when he made the same points and 'fact checker' Glenn Kessler (holding water for Joe Biden's campaign) attacked Beto for saying that.  Beto was right.

Long before the invasion, the Judy Millers and Scott Ritters were laying the ground work.

So if his criminal history isn't enough to scare you off Scott Ritter, how about letting the reality of how he helped lay the groundwork for the 2003 invasion over many, many years -- how about letting that stop you from applauding the registered sex offender.

Or maybe just show a little damn respect to the Iraqi families who lost at least a half-million children because of sanctions?

The REAL Reason War Hawks Silence Anti-War Voices

And, no, the online left did not kick into gear with regards to Syria under Barack Obama.

I'l later discuss it here tonight or try to carry over to THIRD if we're in need of ideas there. It is wrong to confate efforts for something like Medicare For All with efforts to stop wars. The courts have allowed censorship of anti-war voices, going back to WWII, so it is not the same.

Changing of the Gods Docu-Series: Live Online!

WATCH THE SERIES
Dear Bioneer,

I want to let you know that my Changing of the Gods independent 10-episode docu-series is now live online. It’s a revolutionary series for revolutionary times. Along with the trailer, you can watch the series on VimeoAmazonYouTube and iTunes (also available in Canada, Australia and the UK).

Our long-time Bioneers colleague, author Terry Tempest Williams, says this:
Although the series is a personal project independent of my work with Bioneers, it draws deeply on core Bioneers ideas and speakers, Bioneers including Chief Oren Lyons, Luisah Teish, Eve Ensler, john a. powell, Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, Tom Linzey, Mari Margil, William Keepin and Jeremy Narby. Our longtime Bioneers colleague Louie Schwartzberg co-directed the series with me.

Inspired by the landmark book Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View by the acclaimed cultural historian, scholar and archetypal astrologer Richard Tarnas, the series is a Russian doll of stories enfolded within stories. If “worldviews create worlds,” as Richard says, then what’s the worldview that has brought us to this brink of annihilation today, and is there another worldview emerging that could bring about a restored world?

In one dimension, Changing of the Gods is a deep exploration of cosmology. Who are we as human beings and what is our place in the cosmos? Do we live in a random, meaningless universe? Or is there order in the chaos?

Across recurring historical cycles of revolution and counter-revolution, we chronicle the evolution of social movements for liberation, freedom, rights and justice from the French Revolution up to the “fierce urgency of now.” The episodes vividly depict a sweeping historical exploration of whether indeed “the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice.” We turn an archetypal eye rooted in depth psychology to explore the deeper nature of the human psyche, both light and shadow, where the counterpoint to the quest for liberation is the unbridled will to raw power and domination. Sound familiar?

Regarding the cosmological aspects, the series unfolds as a cosmic mystery story with the provocative question: Is there a correlation between entire epochs in human history and the movements of the planets? We follow a bread crumb trail of recurring historical synchronicities – meaningful coincidences - that propel us into the mystery of consciousness itself.

Are coincidences just coincidences? Does the “arc of the moral universe” bend, but only if we bend it? There is so much more to say, but a picture is worth a thousand words. If you do watch the film, I’d love to hear what your experience is.

I want to honor and thank the Bioneers community for our amazing shared learning journey together over these three-plus decades that has shaped me to be able to tell this story.

With Love and All Good Wishes -

Kenny Ausubel

"The Doors were blessed by the cosmos. Something bigger than the four of us came in. Changing of Gods is a blessing that reminds us — the earth is our home, so let's clean up our room, then we can stay in the Milky Way!"

Mary Waldner
Founder of Mary’s Gone Crackers

"Whether or not you 'believe' in the impact of the invisible forces on our lives—in this case, in the form of planetary patterns—is somewhat irrelevant when watching the epic scope that Changing of the Gods presents. We see the spirals of power struggles, upheavals, and transformations as we revisit the same themes over hundreds of years in our human dance towards love, humility, unity, connection, awakening, and becoming whole. What a stunningly beautiful, wise, brilliant, astounding work of love the Changing of the Gods team has gifted us. A powerful invitation to remember our true nature and find our right path going forward on this living planet of which we are a part. The 10-part series needs to be part of curricula all over the world. History, philosophy, psychology, Indigenous wisdom, and cosmology—guiding us to wake up before it’s too late."

DRUM CORPS WORLD November 2022

From the publisher

In addition to reports on the Labor Day weekend events during DCA’s championship weekend and the DCUK and European Champions, along with other miscellaneous articles and features, this issue has a gallery of additional photos from the 2022 DCI, DCA, DCUK, and BYBA seasons.

Every summer season I receive literally more than 10,000 images submitted by the 24 staff photographers who get sideline -- and sometimes press box -- access to capture the great photos I’m able to showcase in the issues all year long. However, the percentage of photographs that are actually used is normally only a small percentage of the total.

Back in the 1970s, I produced several all-photo magazines and tabloid newspapers that, at the time, offered significantly more than any other publication.

I thought with the marking of the 50th anniversary of both this magazine along with Drum Corps International, it was a great summer to get back to a “normal” schedule of competitions and exhibitions. It seems only logical to share more of the collection with readers on 39 of these pages, representing 122 active drum corps, drum corps-like groups, and other groups in this edition.

Kansas was just the beginning…

This is a long email, Common Ills. But there is a lot I want to be sure you know. So, please read through!

Photo of a voting booth with the text: Kansas was just the beginning

The Ms. magazine and Feminist Majority Foundation poll by Lake Research Partners found that across nine battleground states (AZ, FL, GA, NC, NH, NV, OH, PA, and WI) abortion and women’s rights are the most important issues for young women voters, ages 18-29, and are highly motivating in determining their vote. Among women voters of all ages in battleground states, abortion and women’s rights are tied with inflation and rising prices. In a post-Roe world, the Equal Rights Amendment is more important than ever.

You know the midterm elections are critical. Please be sure you have a plan to vote. AND, share this email with friends and family — especially if they live in these critical states!

Here is what you need to know.

There are ballot measures in three states (CA, MI, and VT) that will enshrine abortion rights and access in their state constitution. There is a state Equality of Rights Amendment on the ballot in Nevada. And in Kentucky and Montana, Kansas-style amendments would set the stage for additional outright bans.

Read more on these ballot measures in Ms. magazine too.

Let’s make sure extremists know that Kansas was just the beginning. Make sure you have a plan to vote — AND, if you know anyone in any of these states, forward this email!

For equality,
