Friend,
Today is the first ever National Black Voter Day. For 400 years, Black people have faced oppression in this country. White supremacists have been working overtime to suppress the Black vote and count out Black and Brown people. Today, we ensure that NO VOTER IS LEFT BEHIND.
Either Black lives matter to our elected officials, or the Black vote will put them out of a job.
2020 will be one of the most important Presidential races in modern history and in every community there are down ballot races and issues that are equally important. 2020 is an election year to take deeply seriously. We’re making sure everyone is registered to vote!
Hip Hop Caucus has been registering and advocating for all voters--especially Black voters--every day of every year since our movement began on September 11, 2004. Today we call upon you to join the Respect my Vote Campaign, and register to vote in this year’s existentially pressing election.
Not sure if you’re registered? Respect My Vote has a simple tool to help you see if you need to re-register:
We are organizing influencers in Michigan, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina to get out the word that voting is one of the most powerful tools we have to claim our power in this nation, and in this world- and to ensure that people know about the deadlines and requirements for voting in their home state.
Happy National Black Voter day. Make sure your voice is heard.
