On episode 34 of The Electronic Intifada Podcast, Asa and Nora speak to journalist Rania Khalek.
We discuss the way the Palestine solidarity movement has been divided on the issue of Syria over the last decade. Rania lives in Lebanon and her reporting from the region has provided critical insights into the wars there in recent years. “Israel’s violence impacts more than just the West Bank and Gaza,” Khalek tells us. “Israel’s still occupying a part of Lebanon. Israel’s still occupying a piece of Syria in the Golan Heights. And these counties are all interconnected.” But we begin by talking about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, corporate Democrats and how they pander to the Israel lobby. We also discuss Rania’s recent investigation into the life and strange death of Lokman Slim. Slim was an advocate of Lebanese collaboration with the US and Israel who was killed in mysterious circumstances in February. You can read, listen and watch more of Rania’s work at her Unauthorized Disclosures podcast with Kevin Gosztola, The Grayzone and at Breakthrough News. See: https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/...
