Sat backstage at the Royal Albert Hall ready for The Royal Variety Performance. We were here yesterday too, for a fitting and an initial soundcheck. By the end of the day I was suited and booted and ready for kip. Got home and came back down to earth, made some food, watched the football, read my book and turned the lights out, good night Mr Tom. Right now though, I’m sat in a tuxedo writing out this journal in a caravan…
The alarm went off early this morning and we headed back into London. The city is feeling more and more festive with every day that passes. Or is that just me? I did put my tree up on Sunday… But no, it doesn’t feel like it’s only me. Even whilst sat in the morning traffic, there’s a cold and a crisp, a feeling in the air, we’ll be home before long, together and settled. I can’t wait if I’m honest.
But there’s a little while between now and then, we’re off to Amsterdam next week for a few interviews and performances. And the Capital Jingle Bell Ball, of course! There are a few others I still can’t announce just yet (classic). Writing this down I realise how much I have to look forward to before the holidays.
We are familiar with the idea of having a Spring Clean but finding myself with a little time earlier this week I committed to a Christmas Clean, filling boxes to take down to the charity shop, finding homes for bits and bobs that have been lying around, cluttering up the place. The process itself was cathartic but my word, believe me when I say, the finished result is something else. It’s as if by tidying up my environment, I’ve made room for myself to think, and to wind down in the evenings. How long do you think I’ll make it last? 3 days? A week? I don’t know, but it certainly feels good for now. Would recommend.
Writing this down I realise how much I have to look forward to before the holidays. And as ever, I hope you do too. |
