Isakson to Participate in Home Refurbishing Project in Honor of Veterans Day
ATLANTA
 – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., chairman of the Senate Committee
on Veterans’ Affairs, today
announced he will participate in a home refurbishing project for Yvette
Thomas Ray, a 60-year-old Army veteran who resides in the Grove Park
community of Atlanta.
The
refurbishing project is coordinated by Rebuilding Together Atlanta and
Fifth Third Bank (Georgia). Volunteers will work to complete several
home projects that have gone unfinished
since the passing of Ray’s husband in 2014, including painting the
interior and exterior of the home, installing trim and base molding, and
 repairing flooring in the home.
A
veteran of the U.S. Army, Yvette Thomas Ray served three years of active
duty, beginning her service as an E-2 mess cook stationed in Ft.
Jackson, S.C., and later being promoted
to squad leader. After Ft. Jackson, Ray was in charge of the duty
station at Ft. Knox in Kentucky where she was responsible for a group of
 women in the regular Army.
Media
