KBR contractor sentenced for stabbing

The Press Trust of India reports that Aaron Bridges Langston received a 26 month sentence today for stabbing India's Gaddam Narayana in Iraq "on February 15, 2007" while both worked for Kellogg Brown and Root. Ray Stern (Phoenix New Times) reports:


Langston, who worked for the Defense Department contractor Kellogg Brown and Root, was the supervisor for an Indian national woman he attacked on February 15, 2007 while at the Al Asad Airbase in Iraq. According to a news release by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona and news reports at the time, Langston nicked Gaddam Narayana's jugular vein, but she later recovered. Violence continued today in Iraq. Laith Hammoudi (McClatchy Newspapers) reports 1 Baath Party member "and his brother" were shot dead in Karbala, 1 person was shot dead in Mosul with two more injured, another Mosul shooting left a police officer wounded, a Nineveh car bombing left four people injured, and a Mosul roadside bombing wounded an Iraqi soldier.

Meanwhile Sean Rayment (Telegraph of London) reports a suicide watch for the last British base in Iraq following three deaths in the last months that remain under investigation and which are currently attempting to determine whether the three soldiers suffered from PTSD:

Suicide is a recognised symptom of PTSD and many former servicemen who have seen active service have taken their own lives.
At least 15 military personnel are believed to have taken their own lives after serving in Iraq and more veterans of the Falklands War have committed suicide than were actually killed in the war.
Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry recently criticised the government for failing soldiers who are suffering from PTSD after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. LCpl Beharry, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for twice saving the lives of colleagues in Iraq while under heavy rocket fire, said that it was "disgraceful" that some veterans were struggling to receive treatment.
He said the Government was relying on military charities to cover its own deficiencies and called on it to act to better help the growing number of his comrades suffering from severe combat stress, depression and mental breakdowns.
