A good morning for reading suggestions to help process fury. Because I wrote it, I’ll start with my book, Good and Mad, about the history & political power of women’s anger, now in paperback (& on sale in hardcover). BUT WAIT THERE’S LOTS MORE:

How about some unambiguously welcome 2020 news? Yes?
@WeDemandJustice @NARAL @ReproRights have put together a presidential forum on the importance of the federal judiciary and the threat the takeover of said judiciary poses to our rights.

This thread embodies what is wrong with so many people that have power in criminal justice reform. It’s weird. It’s misleading. Its myopic. Here’s why: https://twitter.com/JohnArnoldFndtn/status/1214628148085755904 …

It was always pure species-ism to assume that humans were the only animal capable of recognizing the truth of Marxism-Leninism.

Please read my piece making the case from the left for Elizabeth Warren: http://inthesetimes.com/features/Elizabeth-Warren-presidency.html …
One reader told me it caused her mom to switch from Buttigieg to Warren!
Silly/goofy/embarrassing behavior is human. Whether you find it endearing or repellent depends a lot on who you recognize and don't recognize as fully human (often tied to whether or not you see yourself--definitely a human--reflected in the person doing the behavior).

Both Warren and Sanders do goofy things. Every presidential candidate does! Whether people see this stuff as "phony" or "driven by advisers" is pretty subjective, and in Warren's case, often gendered.

There's this saying: "wins don't stay won" when it comes to civil rights. No better example of that than what's going on with FL voters right now. @mjs_DC with the full story:
A thoughtful reported piece about Democratic primary scenarios/strategizing on the left. Re Warnie/Berren question, it seems clear that Berren is from Middle Earth and Warnie is a large cartoon dog. I'm pretty sure that your preference says everything about your left bona fides.

In case y'all needed another reason to love @ewarren -- one time a young man in a photo line at an event in Indiana decided to tell her he had gone on a date with me.
Her response: "Only *one* date? You're missing out, that's all I'm gonna say."

.@BernieSanders telling it like it is. Our bail system is racist and classist.
Allowing people to stay in their homes with access to housing, employment, to health care, doesn't come at the expense of safety, it is the source of safety.

We need to make sure that we are working together so that none of these incredibly important bail reforms are rolled back.
Great to see @ewarren’s support!
