We CNN, we f**k ass stupid

"Oh look, we CNN, we f**k ass stupid."

I believe that should be the network's new motto. Their "No U.S. combat-related deaths in Iraq in December" maintains, "There were three noncombat fatalities." There's no byline to this snow job of a US military release (snow job meant in the sexual sense) and who would want to put their name to it. The thrust of the brief piece is so few deaths and none combat-related!

Really? That's what you want to go with?

Well, it's not like any CNN exec has a child serving in Iraq, is it now?

But if your lede that you're hanging the 'story' on is so few deaths, you kind of need to know how many. If you're bragging that there were few deaths and you provide a number, you need for it to be correct. No combat deaths, CNN insists, and only 3 fatalities. ICCC notes -- and has noted for some time -- 4 deaths in December.

Futhermore when deaths are announced to be "under investigation," smart people, educated people, intelligent people do not then begin saying, "No ___ deaths." Smart people wait for the results of the investigation.

"But we CNN. We f**k ass stupid."

Exactly.

I was waiting until late to do the Iraq entry to see if I would need to do a snapshot. Nope. There's no big news and not that much news. However, instead of one entry on Iraq, I want to do two and I want let this one stand alone.

Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Brownie Approved" went up this morning and Kat's "Kat's Korner: The decade in music" and "2009 in books (Martha & Shirley)" went up Thursday, went up and "Reflecting on 2009 (Beth)" went up Sunday. Today you have Ruth offering a report, Kat looking at 2009 in music, Isaiah previewing the new year and also a year-in-review from me (if I ever get a second to write it). In addition, Ann's "2009 in DVDs" and Stan's "DVDs of 2009" (joint-post) looks at DVDs.
