The potboiler needed that giddy high to go out on

As Rebecca Kaplan and Stephanie Condon (CBS News -- link is text and video) report, the shutdown is over.

He will not be mocked.  He will not be mocked.  Don't touch me.  He will not be mocked.  The greatest deception here is this is not one nation under God.  It never was.  Had it been, it would not have been.  No!  It would not have been!  The Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons.  They go against God. You cannot serve two masters! You cannot serve two masters! Praise be to God!  or Jesus Christ.  Praise be to . . .

The national pot boiler comes to an end.

Not with tears but with a rant, how apropos?

Ben Jacobs (Daily Beast) 'reports' on the incident while unable to hear what the woman said (video and audio is all over the internet).  He does note the woman was Dianne Reidy (everyone credits Fox News with being the first to identify her -- everyone but Jacobs).  He terms her a "House stenographer."  Abby D. Phillip (ABC News) explains Reidy is "an official reporter with the Office of the Clerk"

That's what Reidy said into the microphone on the House floor.  She walked up calmly.  Even when pulled away by security she didn't see hugely agitated.

Was the moment planned ahead of time or did it just occur to her and she went up to the mike and ad-libbed?

She's been sent for a psych eval which seems a little extreme in and of itself.

Maybe it was a prank.

Maybe she believes every word.

But the  crazy that has been the coverage of the shutdown really earned Reidy's moment.

Barack's about to deliver a live statement to the nation about the shutdown but he'd get more coverage if he made a statement about Reidy.
