Monday is Veterans Day. Last year, we noted California Pizza Kitchen was celebrating the day. It's celebrating again this year. Active duty members of the military and veterans who show up in uniform or with proof of status can dine in with a free pizza. Dine in. You need to be at a physical restaurant and not, for example, at a California Pizza Kitchen stand in a college food court. This offer is for California Pizza Kitchen restaurants. That's from a friend with California Pizza who called yesterday. Hooters also will be celebrating Veterans Day by honoring veterans and they e-mailed the following:
Hooters is showing its gratitude for veterans and active duty military
personnel this Veterans Day. On Monday, Nov. 11, Hooters invites all
veterans and current servicemen and women to enjoy a free meal, up to
$10.99 in value with any drink purchase, by presenting a military ID or
proof of service at any Hooters location across the country.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to show appreciation for our
military personnel who have selflessly sacrificed for the freedom of all
Americans,” said Andrew Pudduck, vice president of marketing, Hooters of
America. “Supporting the military community is very important to the
Hooters family; we hope our veterans and active duty military will join
us on Veterans Day to relax and enjoy a meal on us as a small but
earnest way to say ‘thank you’ for your service.”
In addition, Hooters is sending extra love to the troops with its annual Operation Calendar Drop campaign. The 2014 Hooters Calendar is now on sale and guests are encouraged to
purchase an extra calendar and write a personal message of appreciation
for the troops. Hooters will collect the personalized calendars and
deliver them to U.S. military stationed overseas.
Everyone is invited to share photos of their Veterans Day visit to
Hooters via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with the #StepIntoAwesome
hashtag. The best moments will be featured on Hooters Step Into Awesome
website, www.stepintoawesome.com.
Earlier this year Hooters kicked off the inaugural Hooters for Heroes™
campaign, which raised $150,000 for the Green Beret Foundation (GBF). The Hooters for
Heroes fundraising program was established to raise money and awareness
for military non-profit organizations dedicated to U.S. veterans and
their families. Hooters presented a check to the GBF during the Hooters
International Swimsuit Pageant events and invited military members to
attend the pageant as special guests.
The Veterans Day deal is available at each of the more than 355 Hooters
restaurant locations across the United States. There is no coupon
required to activate the deal, veterans and military personnel just need
to present military ID or proof of service while dining in at their
favorite Hooters restaurant. The free entrée deal, up to a $10.99 value
with a drink purchase, can be redeemed during business hours on Veterans
Day, Nov. 11.
With Hooters expended menu, veterans and active duty military can choose
from a variety of entrees, including more salads, sandwiches, seafood
dishes and other delicious options. Of course, Hooters continues to
offer its world-famous traditional and boneless chicken wings with
buffalo sauce favorites, ranging in heat from mild to 911, as well as
new signature sauces and rubs on select Hooters menus, such as
teriyaki-style samurai, lemon pepper and chipotle honey.
For a limited time, those looking to huddle up at Hooters during
football season can also enjoy the “Gridiron Grub” menu with tasty
options that include BBQ pork sliders served on warm mini buns, classic
chili cheese fries, as well as shareable platters of sweet chipotle
chicken or smoked BBQ pork piled high with additional toppings on
Hooters new big dipper fries.

As noted earlier this week, if you e-mail to note your company's honoring veterans on Veterans Day, we will include it in Friday's snapshot. If it comes in before then, I'll even do a stand alone entry like we did for Olive Garden and like we're doing now for California Pizza Kitchen and Hooters.
