Some Tweets from David Sirota

  • In my dream, we have an election where anyone who wants to run can run and face legitimate scrutiny — but don’t have to face media people insisting they have no right to run.
  • If a progressive Dem candidate aired this kind of ad against today another Dem primary candidate, they’d be instantly accused of being an agent of Vlad Putin — because the new McCarthyist tactic is to portray any normal intraparty debate as a foreign plot.
  • People who still believe Hillary Clinton shouldn’t have faced any primary at all in 2016 believe she deserved something ahistorical: a completely uncontested primary for an open-seat presidential election. That’s literally never happened — because America is (still) a democracy.
  • “Democrats shoulda made sure to have less democracy and democratic debate in their primaries in order to eventually win a democratic election” is one of the most insane notions that’s somehow now considered logical and normal.
  • Every Dem president of the modern era faced tough — and at times vicious — criticism during primaries (see Clinton’s ad attacking Obama). This process made the eventual Dem nominee stronger. So stop trying to suppress the criticism with demands for “unity”
  • Efforts to try to shame Dems out of “attacking” each other are efforts to suppress the democratic process. That process involves candidates making arguments that contrast with other candidates. Demands for “unity” & no debate are demands to shut down the democratic process (1/2)
  • This editor at Wired magazine is accusing 13 million Sanders voters of being agents of Vlad Putin
  • Living here in Denver, I’ve never understood why most “national” news outlets are in DC & NY and require most of their reporters to only live there.
  • The fact that this isn’t parody makes it even more hilarious
  • Journalism has become like so many other careers — totally unstable. Having been thru layoffs before, I know how awful the job loss process is. Hang in there everyone — this kind of thing is yet another occupational hazard in an already tough line of work.
  • Really awesome to see Warren using her platform to shift the debate on taxes. So necessary.

“You know that Senator Sanders who takes zero dirty money and has fought his whole career for a living wage, healthcare & education for all and the environment? He’s running for President and I’m pissed” “Are you a hardcore Republican” “No, I’m a Democrat” ??????????!

Read 's interview with writer Anand Giridharadas () who says we should be taking names: "When people talk about how they feel America’s rigged, that’s passive voice. Someone rigged it."

. on the Dem Party’s establishment elites: “These are Democrats who are willing to fight for equality and justice in ways that protect their ability to continue to exploit a system that deprives most Americans of the American Dream.”
  • When you’re such a fringe far-right-wing extremist you start literally labeling the K-12 public education system “the left” 👇🏻
  • Political elites somehow trying to scandalize this quote are basically telling on themselves — they’re quite literally positioning themselves against the idea of “creating an economy & a government that work for all people.” This used to be non-controversial Dem Party orthodoxy.
  • Bernie: I’m trying to help build and support a multiracial, multiethnic coalition to fight for social and economic justice during a vicious economic war on workers that’s being waged by the corporate class. Founder of multimillion-dollar media corporation:
  • Here’s the founder of a multimillion-dollar media corporation offering up a ludicrously dishonest take

How is bringing together a diverse coalition to oppose ruling class oppression “literally attack[ing] the idea of diversity”? It’s literally embodying the idea.
  • Stopped in to visit with my state representative today — nice view from her office!
