Arrest the officers who shot Jacob Blake

Friend,

Jacob Blake will never walk again.

The unarmed Kenosha, WI resident was shot in the back by police seven times this weekend while climbing into a car with his three children. His father told protesters that he is paralyzed from the waist down--and for what? Why, is our government-funded policing force able to continue to shoot first and ask questions later, leaving 99% of Police officers facing no legal censure whatsoever for their actions?1

In America, police officers are murdering Black people with impunity. It’s time to stop letting these violent offenders hide behind badges and bring them to justice.

This Friday, it will be 15 years since Hurricane Katrina; a racially charged disaster which took hundreds of lives of Black people. Black people and poor people were left to die in the richest country of the world. 2020 is the Year of Truth, the year where we honor the Black victims of Hurricane Katrina, Black victims of Covid-19, and the many victims of police violence who have still not received justice: Breanna Taylor, George Floyd, and now, with a heavy heart, we add the name: Jacob Blake.

Add your name to call for JUSTICE for Jacob, the IMMEDIATE arrest of all involved in his shooting, and a swift and decisive defunding of the overfunded, violent police forces in this country.

Black people are dying in America, and then being taxed to pay for the livelihood of their own murderers. In a nation where innocent people are gunned down every day, in a nation where non violent protesters are gassed and shot at for protesting those murders, no one is free. Until there is justice for Jacob Blake, there is no justice for any of us.

We, at Hip Hop Caucus, call upon you to add your name and help us as we continue to struggle for Justice for Black people in this country, and as we continue to sayresoundinglyBlack Lives Matter.
