"Paths Not Taken" -- an epic audio tale of love, time travel, and parallel universes!

"WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT THERE WAS A WAY TO CHANGE YOUR PAST?" Hello there from The Gray Area! We hope that you are staying as cool and as calm as possible in this wild summer! After many months of work, we're thrilled to announce that we've completed our seven-part time travel epic. It's called "Paths Not Taken." It concerns lost love, parallel universes, an alien fond of hot dogs and Tony Danza, fatalism, an interdimensional creature named Chester, identity, and destiny. It is both a meticulous character study and a gripping and ambitious genre tale. (One of these episodes features nearly 300 tracks of sound design.) And the entire story takes place from 1994 all the way through 2023! We recently released the first chapter, "Where Are the Lads of the Village Tonight?" This first chapter is named after an obscure pre-World War I novelty song that becomes very important as the story unfolds! And all this is part of The Gray Area, an audio drama told in interconnected stories that you can listen to for free. We'll be releasing new stories every other Tuesday from now through the end of the year. Here's a synopsis of the first chapter: Chelsea Needham was once among the foremost leaders in tech. But something happened involving a fire and a death. And it got in the papers. Rumor reared its ugly head and Chelsea lost everything she had, with only a few friends left. While recovering from alcoholism, self-destruction, and losing the love of her life, Chelsea meets an enigmatic gentleman from England and a strange fortune teller who may have the answers to how she can reclaim her identity. This is the sixth of nineteen episodes that we're releasing from now until early 2021. While all of these stories can be enjoyed independently, there are many connections to Season 1. This is a program that rewards careful listening. And by the end of the second season, you will see how all of these many story strands are related to each other! But you can also experience these sonic tales as enjoyable yarns. For those who cannot wait for the next thrilling installment, we've made the next eight episodes available for Season 2 subscribers, along with all the scripts and more than 400 minutes of subscriber-only behind-the-scenes material.
