From Restore The Fourth:
Friend,
Any change you want to see requires privacy—a space to explore hard and complicated ideas outside of the prying eyes of the government. Everything from the American Revolution to the Civil Rights Movement has required physical and conceptual spaces where people can explore their visions for a better world.
The Founders were acutely aware of this. That’s why they enshrined our right to privacy in the Fourth Amendment, and railed against agents of the Crown who could intrude on and arrest them without probable cause.
Sadly, the government we see today has drifted far from this initial vision. Restore the Fourth seeks a course correction. We’re getting local ordinances passed to make sure the people have a say in whether and how much the government surveils them. We’re working to limit data-sharing between corporations and police that puts everyone under suspicion. We’re working to strengthen warrant requirements for StingRays, call the courts and Congress to account when they’re asleep on the job, and give everyone a chance at a free life.
You too can fight for a world that is a little more just, a little more free, that affords a decent space to explore new ways of thinking and living and thriving. Please volunteer with us today, or give $20 to help us fund this fight. Your contribution is so important—we cannot do this work without you. Dare to imagine a world a little bit freer with us.
