vCHEERS TO THE POPS IN MOM & POP

"Mom & Pop" has become a generic way to refer to small, indie businesses but we know quite a few record stores where it's literally a Mom and/or a Pop running the place or who put the wheels in motion. We also know quite a few stores where "Pop" could be another name for Boss.

Like at Record Archive where that smiley picture below comes from. Margaret Storms learned about running a record store (and a whole lot more) from her Dad Richard Storms, and we're thrilled that they were both together at the store last Saturday for Record Store Day.  Joe Nardone, Jr. is running the show at Gallery of Sound now, but Joe Nardone, Sr. still has a huge presence. And we're thinking about our friends at Salzer's this weekend too, and the legacy that their "Pop", the great Jim Salzer has left them, and all of us, with that great record store.

On Father's Day weekend, in between sets of Dad Rock, we encourage you to check out Episode 18 of The Record Store Day Podcast and hear Margaret Storms and Joe Nardone talk about being second generation record store kids.

And the latest episode of the RSD Podcast features an interview with Neil Finn of Crowded House, whose two sons are now members of the band.

DAD ROCK. INDEED.
