If you’ll just give me the 60 seconds it takes you to read this email I’ll explain why this single action on your part can help set the stage for victory for women, personal freedom and democracy in the year ahead.
I’m also writing you because you understand that leveraging women’s rage triggered by the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe into real gains will require sustained efforts and a trusted source of accurate, timely and actionable information.
And that’s why I’m urging you to take action and join us in the Ms. Community.
I hope you will become part of this growing, freshly energized movement that contributed so much to turning November’s supposed Red Wave into a pitiful Red Puddle.
You see, although Ms. started out 50 years ago as a rebelling, truth-telling magazine, it’s now grown into far more than that. It provided much of the information and hard-hitting insights that helped fuel our movement in 2022.
Today, as we mark our 50th year as the center of news and analysis around women and their lives, Ms. has transformed into a diverse community reaching readership in the millions and providing community and connection for feminists across multiple generations.
Simply, Ms. remains the most trusted information source for feminists and the women’s movement.
That’s exactly what happened in the mid-term elections.
Before early voting started, Ms. engaged major polling firm Lake Research Partners, to conduct a poll among likely voters in nine battleground states that would determine the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. Based on the poll’s findings, we predicted that abortion and women’s rights would be highly motivating issues in determining women’s votes.
Yet the mostly all-male group of national media pollsters were emphatic in their predictions that abortion had faded in voters’ minds. They couldn’t have been more wrong.
In our upcoming Winter 2023 issue – our 50th Anniversary Special Collector’s Issue – we break down all the key election results and what they mean for the fight ahead for equality.
No other resource provides the same caliber of breaking reporting and expert analyses, all the while working to ensure that women’s demands are central in the political discourse.
That’s what the Ms. Community is all about and why we so want believers like you to join with us today as we prepare for tomorrow’s battles.
Specifically, I hope you will take a moment while this email is in front of you to join the Ms. Community. The amount you choose as your level of support for Ms. is up to you. Some folks choose $25, some choose a monthly amount for as little as $5, and this year, many are choosing $50 in honor of Ms.’s 50th anniversary.
When you join the Ms. Community, you’ll not only receive Ms. magazine each quarter, you will be plugged into the vast women’s movement. You can choose from daily and weekly newsletters, access the growing and popular collection of Ms. podcasts, receive early invitations to live and digital events featuring feminist leaders and newsmakers, and we’ll alert you about actions you can take for equality.
But most of all, you’ll receive the critical coverage of current events and incisive analysis that has long fueled and given voice to the feminist movement. And because Ms. is sustained by its members and readers – and not by corporate advertisers – we tell it like it is.
The mission of Ms. is both urgent and essential at the very moment equality, women’s rights and democracy itself are under assault by the far-right hell bent on imposing their distorted beliefs on the rest of us.
Through good times and bad, through these past 50 years – Ms. has kept feminists informed and empowered. As we renew and reinforce the commitment of Ms. for the next 50 years, I hope we can count on you to help carry on the critical mission of Ms. by becoming a Ms. Community Member today.
For Equality,
