NYT: Gordo pulls out his War Porn collection again

In The Substitute Wife, Farrah Fawcett's character declares, "I'm not just a whore, I'm a good whore." War pornographer Michael Gordon adapts the line to read, "I'm not just a whore, I'm a dumb whore." And he repeatedly proves the slogan is accurate in "New Iraq Strategy Emerges: First Security, Then Politics." (It's labeled "Military Analysis" which proves that the ratings system doesn't work -- this is pure War Porn.)

Gordo's the type who likes to present himself above the fray. He has a real problem with 'politics' and 'policy decisions' -- or rather, he has a hard time when confronted with the reality that all things are politics and all things are policy decisions.

He opens by informing you there is a "fundamental dispute over the American mission" -- he just fails to deliver. The fundamental dispute includes those who say not only should more troops not be sent but they also should be brought home. Ask him about that and he'll wuss out with the "That's a policy decision" nonsense as though he doesn't advocate policy decisions in every article he writes including this one which is Gordo's war on leaking all over the page at the thought of more troops in Iraq.

Apparently, his war on took the majority of the blood from his brain which is why he not aware that the 'cracdown' began in June and long before the Stryker Brigade due to return to Alaska got told they were staying, a greater number of US troops had already been deployed to Baghdad. (Did he miss John McCain's whack-a-mole speech -- I honestly assumed he'd beat off to that thing.) It's why doing to Ramadi what was done to Falluja (slaughter) got put on hold in June because US troops were being pulled out of Al-Anbar Province to go to the capital.

But he's an idiot and he always will be. He acts as though the 'fundamental dispute' will be addressed but he leaves out the aspect that calls for troops home (a position favored by the majority of Americans) and he also skirts the issue of those favoring a continued presence but not an increase (that's obvious by what he starts with and what he gives the most space to). The most curious moment may come when he quotes Ike Skeleton who will head the House Armed Services Committee when the new Congress is sworn in next month: "The Iraqis need to understand that the responsibility for their failure is theirs. . . . We should at least begin to do some redeployment right away to show the American people that we are not there to stay forever." It's a nice little soundbyte and certainly politicians are capable of shaping their statements to fit their audience; however, it is a strange statement when you consider Skeleton's statements on yesterday's Free Speech Radio News. Speaking with Leigh Ann Caldwell, Skeleton stated he was "not real optimistic" about Iraq and the news from the Pentagon report that attacks were up on US troops in the month of October.

He told Caldwell that increasing troop levels "could actually exacerbate the situation even further and [I'm] very concerned about the additional burden" on the military.

He also stated: "There are three things that Congress can do, one is cut off funds, we're not about to cut off funds for the trops. Second we can always have limiting language of some sort. Or by the oversight that we intend to do at the full committee level. At the new subcomittee, the oversight investigations subcommittee. That does influence behavior. That does have substantial influence on what people do whether it be within the Defense Department or oversight in some other areas. I think it's a very solid tool that Congress has not been using."

Apparently Gordo wasn't too interested in that. He's also not interested in being precise as he tosses "Iraq" around over and over. The increase would be to 'secure' Baghdad. That's an important point. In March, the four-year mark of the illegal war is hit and it's still all about the capital because, reality, the other areas are not 'secure' and they won't be.

But that's probably 'politics' and 'policy decisions' and Gordo's so far above that. He's just interested in War! War! War! All the time.

He's stroking his war on and possibly he could use it on Impacted Colon? Oh, that's the third entry.
