The four deaths resulted in soldiers facing murder charges. And the commanding officer, Col. Michael D. Steele? Some undisclosed disipclinary action that means his career is basically over. Witnesses say that the soldiers were instructed, by Steele, to "kill all males."
No, "only following orders" is not a defense. Neither is, "I was just giving orders, they carried them out." But for Steele that's how its played out.
