NYT: "Army Says Improper Orders By Colonel Led to Deaths" (Paul Von Zielbauer)

What is justice? Ponder that as you read the only thing worth reading in the paper today, Paul von Zielbauer's "Army Says Improper Orders By Colonel Led to 4 Deaths." The four deaths resulted in soldiers facing murder charges. And the commanding officer, Col. Michael D. Steele? Some undisclosed disipclinary action that means his career is basically over. Witnesses say that the soldiers were instructed, by Steele, to "kill all males."

No, "only following orders" is not a defense. Neither is, "I was just giving orders, they carried them out." But for Steele that's how its played out.
