We've been calling for Shinseki's resignation since the GI Bill scandal of fall 2009. So I do know who could do the job, former US House Rep and Iraq War veteran Patrick Murphy. The problems will not all be fixed by one person but what the VA needs right now -- what it didn't have under Shinseki -- was serious oversight and Murphy can provide that and a lot more. He's so perfect for the job, there's no way he will be selected.
But he does have experience as a veteran and as a member of Congress. He's also got the energy of conviction and youth. No one could do a better job or elevate the VA from its past -- a past that will sink Barack in the history books if he makes another stupid choice -- and the bulk of his nominees have been stupid choices.
Patrick Murphy could steer the VA back on course, he's the perfect nominee.
