- If you plan to be involved in politics at all, your past - especially your political past - is not off limits. You want to be a leader of the resistance? Then you gotta own up to how we got here.
- If you think there isn't a direct line from Siskin repeatedly attacking Obama & publicly lauding Palin to 54% of white women voting for Trump, you're wrong.
- If you think there's not a direct connection from "progressives" like Siskind publicly trashing BLM & the ease with which Trump has been able to criminalize black activists & publicly insult black leaders & politicians, you are wrong.
- & if you think that instead of showing accountability for your past actions that helped necessitate the need for this "resistance" in the first place, you can demonize black women (who are far more impacted by this evil admin than you) who rightfully question your past -
- Then you are not the leader of any "resistance" that will bring anything other than another flavor of white supremacy.
- Accountability matters. It must always matter.
- Just stop this BS. There’s enough to be outraged about without tearing down people on the same damned side.
- If your side supports Palin, insults Obama, and derides & dismisses black women, it's certainly not my side. "Shut up and take it" is not a side I ever plan on being on
- Sick of this shit from everyone. I loved and respected Obama. I wasn’t always happy about some of the decisions he made. I’d like to be able to say that without any consideration of my race. Or his. All these sweeping condemnations need to stop. Both of you. All of us. Christ.
- Bye Amy.
- Bye
- Race has everything to do with this & more.
- wow. The doubling down of white women either defending Amy or attempting to silence black women is all kinds of wrong. Especially since they seem to engage w/out giving thoughtful consideration to the very real and meaningful conversation taking place. Like it’s an inconvenience.

- Siskind is a writer. It's her job. However she is a Conservative Republican who also said she was a fan of Bannon.
- I'm a writer. Siskind & I appear to have very different job descriptions.
- For sure. I think her reaction is horrid. I remember when I was 21 some guy called me transphobic. Took me a year to get it. Some people can't change? Maybe.
- I definitely think people can change (my work would be meaningless if they couldn't) , and accountability is a crucial part of that change.
- Nothing in this thread implies that the problem is whether someone changed, or whether the work being done now is good. The problem is changing and then pretending the past never was. Just say “Yes, I said that stuff but I don’t think that way anymore & lets talk about it.”
- I think the real problem is that there was really no change, because there was no acknowledgement of what they did wrong, only attacking those that are asking for accountability of their actions.
- I think that’s a fair point. Yes, the work she’s doing now is good. The people she’s calling out (current situation aside) have deserved to be called out. Her political analysis these 2 yrs has been valid. But she’s not owning her past and that’s the only way to prove change.

- I cannot for the life of me understand why everyone is rallying to her defense. I mean, I know why, but it doesn’t make any damn sense.
- I still want to know how she suddenly got her “resistance” cred overnight. I’d never heard of her before the election..suddenly she’s a “leader of the resistance.”
- For some, the Resistance is nothing more than a brand to monetize.
- It must be nice. I know I’m more privileged than many, but like... This is a battle of life or death for a lot of people. I can’t lose my insurance. I can’t make it financially through another recession. I wish I had such an abundance that this could be a fun hobby.
- I too wish more of the pundit class treated this as more than a trade show at which to rub elbows.
- I get sick to my stomach when people praise the 4 o'clock hour on MSNBC. They are the ones that brought us Palin and mainstreamed the tea party to America. Literally. Seeing people in the resistance cheer them & Painter. I get they are Never Trumpesr but they aren't on our side.
- Also. They hated Palin too. They are McCain people. They followed his lead. He is flawed, but a true public servant.
- Schmidt picked Palin, vetted her, sold her to McCain. Wallace tried to train her. They brought her and kept her until the point of no return and McCain couldn't replace her. They are GOP through and through and will be after Trump. They also kept silent through the election.

- Can you all NOT turn on each other like rabid wolves when the midterms are within spitting distance? Hold each other to account when the GOP doesn’t have a majority. I’m fairly certain Donald is working on an order allowing his sons to strangle every endangered animal in the U.S.
- Can you NOT try to build your resistance off the backs of black women? Thanks! Bye.
- Well, I guess free elections were overrated anyway. Enjoy the next 12 years of President Trump’s rule, followed after that by the glorious reign of Queen Ivanka.
- If you think it has to be done at the expense of black women, you offer little better than Trump. Your white supremacy is showing. We aren't your doormats. Bye.
- She also implied Imani could be sued for libel and thanked her fb followers for reporting her. All-around inexcusable behavior.
- Yeah, it was very gross. And whenever I tried to stick up for Imani, I was told to leave/that I was a bot/troll.
- Bunch of sycophants on her page. They need better people to read/follow. I’d feel bad for them but I know they’re the kind of white women who talk over everyone who isn’t white.
- I had to leave SEVERAL "resistance" groups after the election when I realized the white women there weren't really ready to hear the truth and do the work to truly change things.
- It's disappointing as hell. The Ivanka rapes jokes (bc highly credible parental sex abuse is hilarious if she's unlikable), the refusal to get to the root of issues, the instant "not all wp!" when a black person speaks. I thought trumpers would be the worst people here.
- I've said for a while now, it's much harder to tackle the internalized racism/white supremacy in Democrats because they think they're doing everything right and are so offended by being called out for fucking up.
- yup. I do my best to politely call it out IRL bc once you start seeing the system, you can't not. I get smacked down by my liberal family members every time. and now I sound like one of those Matrix theorists. I'm really not!
