More of the same in Iraq

It's been the same day over and over.

There is no update.  There is no real change.

So let's talk about a few other things.

First:

GUNS AND BUTTER were added to the link list last week.

KPFA -- ay-yi-yi.

Ava and I thought we were going to write about it at THIRD.  We're not.  (More on that in a minute.)  So I'll just say here that KPFA is yet again lying.

Repeating: KPFA is yet again lying.

The lie is that GUNS AND BUTTER was just dropped because it didn't make enough during KPFA's August pledge drive.

Do they think we're really that stupid?

I'm more bothered by the lie than KPFA actually dropping GAB.  GAB existed mainly as an online program already.  Though hugely popular in the Bay Area, Bonnie Faulkner's work brought national and international attention to KPFA and it was the most streamed program KPFA had.

So now, if Bonnie wants to ask for money on air, she can do it for her own program and not have to force her listeners to subsidize garbage like that produced by Kris Welch or subsidize the millions Amy Goodman steals from PACIFICA each year.

Bonnie's show was carried by WBAI as well.  The lie KPFA is telling currently requires that you not know that fact and that you not know that the show was also dropped by WBAI.

KPFA is a bunch of liars and you shouldn't donate a cent while geriatric garbage like Kris Welch is given three shows and anyone under fifty in the Bay Area is screwed yet again.

To listen to KPFA is to think that Berkeley, San Francisco, Marin, et al al are sleepy, retirement communities, not thriving areas.

To listen to the White, elderly voices of KPFA is to listen to the self-involved Baby Boomers still unable to step aside.

One episode of GAB -- any episode, pick it at random -- did more to advance Lewis Hill's beliefs than three weeks of KPFA programming.  Lew didn't create KPFA for it to be a Democratic Party organ.  He created it for free wheeling discussions and that's what Bonnie provides.

KPFA is not serving Lew's mission, it's not serving the listenership.  It's time to let it die.  It has nothing to offer.  It advanced the war on Libya and promoted war on Syria.  These are against the core beliefs it was founded upon.

It needs to die.

It offers nothing of value.

It leeches off of people by begging for money and then forks it over to people who don't deserve it.

Kris Welch doesn't need a program.  She needs a ride to her senior care living.  And she needs to take Mark and all the rest along with her.

They provide no analysis.  They provide nothing of value.

They've run off Bonnie and their plan -- Mark especially -- is to next kick off Dennis Bernstein.

They're not serving the community.  They're conducting their own little wars to get more airtime for themselves.

They're hideous.

KPFA doesn't need to be saved.  Just let it die.

Dennis, like Bonnie, has an audience larger than KPFA.  He'll be fine as an online presence.

But let KPFA die and Kris Welch is just another elderly bag lady.

They're supposed to stand against war -- that's why they were founded.  Instead, they sell it.

They're a sewer now and there's no hope of cleaning it out.

Too many have tried.

Bonnie raised better than anyone and they drop her.  They don't care about the listener.

That's why so few listen to KPFA anymore.  Let it go under.  Let it be sold off to whatever.  It doesn't matter anymore because KPFA has made the decision not to matter.

Kris huffing into the microphone, bored, as she reads various snippets from the AP?  That's not quality radio.  It's not even okay radio.

Why aren't we writing about this at THIRD?

Ava and I thought we would be.  We also thought we'd be doing a piece on one of the five new shows we watched last week.

Instead, Jim's asked us to write a piece.  And you can blame us for new content not being up yet, I'm fine with that.  We had no desire to write about John McCain.  We finally finished before I started this.  And we've spent hours on it.  But I'm exhausted and ready to go to sleep.

And I'm exhausted by PACIFICA's nonsense.  They should have long ago cancelled the contract with Amy Goodman.  Professional grifer Leslie Cagen was behind that contract.  Amy's show -- given freely to public access and others -- should not cost PACIFICA three million dollars a year -- especially when this huge amount of money does not even given PACIFICA ownership of the program.

Cancel the contract.

Amy won't do anything.  She damn well knows most Americans have no idea just how much her money grubbing hands have gotten from PACIFICA already.

Cancel the contract and you free PACIFICA.  Otherwise, you're going to have to let it go under.  And the way KPFA is conducting itself, PACIFICA should go under.
