This piece was supposed to be part of ’ August issue, on the theme of “Disasters.” I’m sorry that it couldn’t be part of a magazine package, but thrilled about the way it came out, and grateful to for his generosity of time and insight.

"The fact that 2018 was an enormous victory for the Democratic Party-women in America know that the Democratic Party values them. Women in America know that the Republican Party might not. When we value women and do the right thing, long term we will prevail."

As progressives, we need to redefine viability. A candidate with a bold transformative vision—one that makes you feel seen and heard and moves you into action—is viable, period. My piece on risk-averse Dems in :

I have been calling in favors everywhere all day to get copies! I can't get them in Europe 😫 If anybody can grab extra copies, I will pay for everything 😬
  • It’s a resource I want to have at hand deep into the future, and that I want my kids to have, and yes I hope someone is putting it in book form, between hard covers, as well.
  • I am in a place where I can’t get the physical New York Times today and I have made multiple phone calls asking my parents to make sure to get me an extra copy and bring it next week so I can read and keep the 1619 Project on paper.

I think a lot about the time Mark Halperin had to be corrected *on air* after saying nothing Trump said in the Access Hollywood tape was technically illegal.

Mark Halperin is a terrible human, a s**tty political analyst, and an unbearably boring writer. (Only the first genuinely matters, but still.) To participate & enable in his return to prominence makes you part of the f**king problem.

“The new accusations from the four women include that Halperin masturbated in front of an ABC News employee in his office and that he violently threw another woman against a restaurant window“

even outside the very serious allegations against Halperin, the brand of political reporting where you take the words of DC consultants as unimpeachable gospel has never been more out of touch

Halperin was accused of pressing his erect penis against multiple women, grabbing a woman’s breasts, throwing a woman against a window & when rejected, calling a woman to tell her she’d never work in media again.

Seen some cons cast the 1619 Project as anti-American. But this piece is on fire with love of country; the searing, unrequited love that our nation's most faithful patriots harbor for the American ideals that have so often spurned them.

Seems like a good time to re-circulate on bad "electability" rhetoric
