Growing up in a family involved in WA's Chicano movement, Chief Judge Ricardo Martinez always wanted to fight for civil rights & the people—& he did. What started as local activism led to becoming a trial lawyer, & eventually, the 1st Latino District Judge to serve in Western WA.
Protections for people with pre-ex conditions, letting young adults stay on their parents' insurance, & Medicaid expansion lowered costs & expanded coverage for millions—yet Trump & Republicans continue to try to take health care in our country backward.
President Trump is ransacking federal funds from our military communities & national security priorities to build his wasteful border wall. This is unacceptable—Congress needs to put a check on this President, plain and simple.
The climate crisis isn't just hurting our planet—it’s impacting public health.
Our federal government can no longer stand on the sidelines and it's beyond time for Congress to #ActOnClimate.
We cannot let the Trump Administration and Republican leaders take away protections for people with pre-ex conditions, like @morethanmySLE. Join us to fight back and #ProtectOurCare.
In their ongoing attempts to jeopardize health care in our country, the Trump Administration has issued a rule that would let states empower insurance companies to discriminate against patients with pre-existing conditions.
This is wrong & @SenateDems & I are fighting back.
This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, I’ll keep fighting for the protections survivors & their families need, such as:
Preventive care
Access to cancer screenings
Protections for pre-ex conditions
Caps on out-of-pocket costs
While this is good news, Congress absolutely still needs to pass our legislation to end family separations & ensure humane treatment for children and families being held in U.S. custody.
Congress can #BeBoldEndHyde by passing the EACH Woman Act—legislation that would help ensure every woman, regardless of how she is insured, her zip code, or her income, can make the health care decisions that are right for her.
Today President Trump will continue his anti-worker agenda by swearing in Eugene Scalia, an elite corporate lawyer, to serve as Sec. of Labor. We know from his record he will put big corporations first—which is why I'll fight every day to hold him accountable & protect workers.
President Trump seems to care more about his wasteful vanity wall than our troops, our military communities, or the American people.
Our military deserves better—and I’ll keep fighting to end this President’s outrageous abuse of power.
