One-on-one with the incomparable Ray Chew | #RollinWithRoland

Ray Chew is a musician with too many credits to list in full but if you know "Fight For It" (b-side to Diana Ross' "Swept Away"), you know his work -- he wrote that song with Diana, Bill Wray and Peppy Castro; he plays piano on "Girls" (written by Diana, Bill Wray and Marc Jordan) on Diana's ROSS album (1983 ROSS album, not 1978's ROSS album); on Diana's SILK ELECTRIC, he not only plays keyboards on multiple tracks, he also co-wrote "Fight For It" with Diana and Bill Wray; he plays all on nine tracks on Diana's WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE? -- and he co-wrote "Work That Body" with Diana and Paul Jabara; and he first began working with Diana on her 1979 album THE BOSS produced by Ashford & Simpson. While Valerie Simspon plays piano on the album, Ray played keyboards.

He worked with Ashford & Simpson repeatedly including on their albums SEND IT, IS IT STILL GOOD TO YA, STAY FREE and A MUSICAL AFFAIR as well as arrangements on their classic STREET OPERA album. His many other credits would also include arranging two tracks on Alicia Keys' THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS,
