Hejira

bbc

On the heels of BBC Arabic and the Guardian newspaper's recent documentary entitled James Steele: America's Mystery Man In Iraq comes Panorama's "The Spies Who Fooled the World" which debuts on BBC One Monday night.

Ellen Branagh (Scotsman) reports the program "documents the chain of secret information that contributed to the decision to invade, including new testimonies from intelligence sources. It tells how claims from a few sources that Iraq was manufacturing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) were used to justify the war."  Andy McSmith covers the documentary for the Independent.

Iraq's continued violence includes continued targeting of Sahwa.  National Iraqi News Agency reports that three Kirkuk homes of Sahwa members were blown up today.  And they report a man and his daughter were shot outside their Mosul home, 2 Mosul bombings left two police officers injured, and a Falluja bombing left two people injured.

The above, however, is not what the Western press is focusing on.  If they're covering Iraq, they're noting the Basra bombings.  EFE notes 9 people are dead and twenty-four people are injured as a result of 2 Basra car bombings.  Wang Yuanyuan (Xinua) reports, "In one attack, a booby-trapped car went off at a marketplace in Garnat-Ali area, some 20 km north of Basra, killing ten people and wounding 12 others, the source from Basra police said on condition of anonymity. A second car bomb detonated at the parking lot of Saad Square in Basra, some 550 km south of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, wounding three people, the source said."

A defector from the petty wars
That shell shock love away
