Proceeds will support Paralyzed Veterans of America’s ‘Operation PAVE’
WASHINGTON, DC—Veterans and leaders from business, government and the armed services took to the fairways at Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C., for the seventh annual Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open, hosted by Agility. The 2014 event raised more than $400,000 for Paralyzed Veterans of America’s employment assistance program—Operation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment)—which aims to end high unemployment rates for veterans with disabilities.
“We thank Agility for hosting this great event and for all their support over the years,” said Bill Lawson, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “It’s great to see so many people come out to support this effort to help get our veterans back to work. Veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country are struggling to find jobs and support their families, and this is simply unacceptable.”
Since its inception in 2008, the annual Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open, has raised $2.2 million for Operation PAVE and helped open new vocational rehabilitation centers in San Antonio, TX; Augusta, GA; Tampa, FL; and Chicago, IL. This year’s funds will help grow the program and support services that are provided free to all veterans.
“This annual event is directly helping veterans and changing lives through Operation PAVE vocational centers,” said Rich Brooks, president of Agility DGS Inc. and a retired Army colonel. “We love serving veterans, and you can just feel the positive energy flowing among the players, sponsors, military, veterans and others participating in the tournament.”
Operation PAVE assists veterans seeking employment by providing free one-on-one job counseling and placement assistance and support to all veterans, their families and their caregivers. PAVE counselors specialize in assisting disabled veterans seeking to re-enter the workforce. They also work with local employers committed to hiring veterans to identify qualified employment candidates.
Since 2007, 2,500 veterans have received services through the PAVE program, and 700-plus companies and organizations in the PAVE Employer Network have committed to hiring a PAVE client. Operation PAVE currently has regional offices located throughout the country to serve all veterans. To learn more, visit www.operationpave.org.

About Paralyzed Veterans of America
Paralyzed Veterans of America was founded by a group of seriously injured American heroes from the “Greatest Generation” of World War II. They created a nonprofit organization to meet the challenges that they faced back in the 1940s—from a medical community not ready to treat them to an inaccessible world. For more than 68 years, Paralyzed Veterans’ national office and its 34 chapters across the nation have been making America a better place for all veterans and people with disabilities. (www.pva.org)
