Isakson Statement on Nomination of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, today
issued
the following statement in response to President-elect Trump’s
selection of Rex Tillerson as secretary of the U.S. Department of State:
“Mr.
Tillerson has an impressive background with unique experience and
extensive knowledge of working in a global environment. I congratulate
Mr. Tillerson on his nomination, and I look forward
to meeting with him during the confirmation process to learn more about
how he views the world and America’s national interests."
According to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a hearing will be held on Mr. Tillerson’s nomination in early January 2017.
