In Iraq, Hayder al-Abadi proves to be a lousy prime minister as Turkey attacks Iraq.
We must not let another tragedy take place in Sinjar, thousands of Yazidis have returned to their homes in Sinjar, now they fear for their lives again.Turkey's Erdogan says operations begin in Iraq's Sinjar region
Hayder may not care what happens to the KRG. But for many Iraqis outside the KRG, the notion that another country is attacking Iraq won't play well. Central and southern Iraq shares no great love with Turkey. And, of course, nothern Iraq, the area under attack, isn't delighted.
All Iraqis expect the government of Iraq to defend the country.
Hayder's failing yet again. And elections are schedule to take place May 12th.
ARAB NEWS notes the official Iraqi government response that Iraq is in control of Sinjar and no Turkish troops are present.
The only thing worse than a government lying is a government telling a lie no one believes.
The Iraq War created chaos, widows and orphans. It also created refugees -- the largest refugees crisis in the Middle East since 1949.
One family of refugees ended up in Texas. It has not gone well.
Elizabeth Elizalde (NEW YORK DAILY NEWS) reports:
The parents of a 16-year-old Texas girl were arrested Friday for allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on her body after she refused an arranged marriage, authorities said.
Abdulah Fahmi Al Hishmawi, 34, and Hamdiyah Saha Al Hishmawi, 33, are accused of physically abusing their daughter, Maarib Al Hishmawi, who has been reported missing since Jan. 30.
“The only way that this young lady could bring an end to this abuse was to verbally agree to become a party to this marriage,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Friday.
Maarib’s parents beat her with broomsticks, choked her until she was unconscious, and poured hot oil on her because she did not want to get married, he added.
Mariah Medina, , Nicole Perez, Dillon Collier and Deven Clarke (KSAT) add:
Al Hishmawi is now in CPS custody along with her five other siblings who are between the ages of 5 and 15. Her parents are charged with continuous violence against a family member and were taken into custody Friday night. They were released on separate $30,000 bonds Sunday.
Salazar said it's unclear whether Al Hishmawi's siblings were also abused and added that he believes other charges will be filed in connection with this case.
Salazar said it's "highly likely" the man who Al Hishmawi was arranged to be married to will be charged as well.
The father denies everything but being willing to give his okay to his 15-year-old daughter marrying a 25-year-old man.
