Thread on @USAfricaCommand: Although AFRICOM started a few months before @BarackObama took office, it was Obama who dramatically expanded AFRICOM operations.
Sad fact: African countries then began to cooperate with the first Black U.S. president to allow U.S. bases in their countries and military-to-military relationships. In fact, 53 out of 54 African countries keep such relationships now.
AFRICOM isn't fighting terrorism, but continuing the neo-colonial process of extracting Africa's resources and keeping out potential infrastructure-development partners like China.
