LOS ANGELES – Today, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) issued the following statement upon the passing of Nativo Lopez.

“Nativo spent his life supporting and advocating for the rights of immigrants in East Los Angeles. When I was an activist in the South Los Angeles community dealing with police abuse, we worked together on behalf of our communities and supported each other’s struggles. He devoted his life to fighting for social and economic justice and improving the lives of the members of his community. His voice will be missed but because of his investments in future generations of Angelenos, it will not be absent or forgotten.”
