Support for President Trump Increases in Florida as Broward GOP Postures for 2020

"This puts us in a great position to continue to turn out the Republican vote."
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 18, 2019 (Newswire.com) - It takes extra effort to garner support for Republicans in the very blue county of Broward, as Democrats hold a majority of voter registrations and elected office positions. However, the Broward GOP is making great strides in early fundraising to help keep the state of Florida red.
The Broward GOP is a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing the Republican vote and getting Republicans elected. Their recent fundraising efforts have resulted in more than $100,000 raised in the most recent quarter (Q2). This money funds operations such as get-out-the-vote programs which mobilize Republican voters to the polls.
The Broward GOP’s recent spike in donations came from their annual Lincoln Day Event. On May 23, more than 400 attendees joined the group at the Pier Sixty-Six Hotel and Marina in Fort Lauderdale to hear speakers discuss plans the 2020 election. The keynote was Brad Parscale, President Trump’s top Campaign Manager.
Other notable guests included Senator Joe Gruters, the Republican Party of Florida Chairman and Republican Party of Florida Vice-Chairman, Commissioner Christian Ziegler. Local businesses and Republican clubs also bought tables in support of the event.
Overall it was estimated the Lincoln Day event netted $55,000.
Since Republicans are severely outnumbered in Broward County, the organization’s volunteers need the extra support to get the turnout they require to win. The Broward County GOP continues to spread their ideas of freedom, patriotism, economic growth, and America First policies and win elections, growing the Republican party. Their recent efforts are proving to be fruitful since nearly 20% more registered Republicans turned out in the 2018 midterms than in 2014.
Moraitis also credited the special effort of volunteers and local party leadership that made the event possible, including Broward GOP Vice Chair Tom Powers, Secretary Nancy Cooke, and Treasurer Jeff Brown
Moraitis specifically recognized two additional leaders in Florida politics for their hard work on the event and fundraising efforts -- the Lincoln Day Event co-chairs: State Committeeman Richard DeNapoli and State Committeewoman Michele Merrell.
The Broward GOP is the foundation of Republican grassroots politics. It enables registered Republicans to participate in party decisions at the local level and is the bedrock from which the GOP reaches out to the community to win elections, spread their ideas, and grow the party. Meetings take place once a month and all registered Republicans are welcome to attend and petition to be elected to the executive committee. The organization is funded solely by donations. For more information, visit them at browardgop.com.
