Dear Reader,
Well, here we are, about to come together in Marion and Indianapolis, IN, for the season-ending series of championship events Drum Corp International will showcase for fans who make the trek to Lucas Oil Stadium and on movie theater screens across the land and on television screens for those who won’t make the trip this time. There’s no question this has been a competitive and exciting summer of performances, not only for the talented World Class roster of 22 corps, but also for the 14 Open Class organizations sending their corps to the big show . . . and not to be overlooked, the 10 units that ended their season in late July by choosing to not travel to DCI because of limited finances. I’m looking forward to being in the “Circle City” to see all the corps “live” that I wasn’t able to witness in person up to this point in the season. I’ll be in my seat all day Thursday to enjoy the programs it has taken the last six weeks to prepare for the final performance of the 2019 season and the last two days of the 47th annual gathering of drum corps from across the North American continent. I will also anticipate next year’s visit from the United Kingdom’s Kidsgrove Scouts and Beeches, both making their first journey to DCI! |
