MORE THAN A MAGAZINE, A MOVEMENT

Dear Common Ills,

As we grieve over the death of our champion Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we can think of no better way at Ms. to honor her legacy than to continue our work reporting, rebelling and truth-telling. Justice Ginsburg’s entire life was devoted to the battle for gender equality, and the team at Ms. is determined to do everything we can to rise to the challenges of this moment and fight like hell to honor her work and her memory.

You can depend on Ms. to keep you up to date as Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell rush to fill the vacancy on the Court, even as people are already voting across the country on who will nominate a new Justice. We’ll send you action alerts as we report on what’s at stake in the nomination battle – from our health care and our voting rights to our access to abortion care and birth control, and from our right to be free from discrimination in employment, education, housing, and credit to our fight for racial and economic justice – and so much more.

And you can depend on Ms. to keep reporting on the elections – the potential power of the gender gap and women’s votes to swing election outcomes... the women running for office... and actions Ms. readers can take to safeguard the elections. What’s more, we’ll stay on top of election reporting in what is predicted to be a tumultuous aftermath amid lies about “voter fraud” and contested results.

I think you’ll agree Ms. has never been more needed to keep feminists informed, inspired and empowered. Whatever the outcome of the elections, we need to know we can count on the steady support month-in and month-out of a dedicated group of members. So, as you think about how important Ms. is to the movement for gender equality in these critical days ahead – and to you – please become a Sustaining Member at $10… $15... $25 or more a month.

Ms. Sustaining Members receive all the benefits of a Ms. membership – print and digital access to every issue of the magazine, discounts and early access to community events, newsletter and action alerts, and some pretty great Ms. swag! And whatever the size of your sustaining membership, as a thank you for your generous support, we will make sure your name is printed in the anniversary issue of Ms. each fall.

What’s more, because your membership to Ms. will never expire as long as you are a Ms. Sustaining Member, you’ll help us reduce postage and printing costs that would be used for renewal notices.

Our Sustaining Members help guarantee that Ms. will have what it takes to report what’s next…

...as the country rebuilds from the damage created by the twin crises of the pandemic and massive unemployment. Women have been on the frontlines of this pandemic as caregivers – both paid and unpaid – and as essential workers. Addressing women’s needs must be at the center of any plans for rebuilding the economy and the country.

…in the battles ahead to finally enshrine the Equal Rights Amendment into the U.S. Constitution. The hard-fought gains we’ve made – in employment, credit, health insurance pricing and benefits, education and athletics, and more – could not be eliminated by federal or state laws or reversed by the U.S. Supreme Court if we finally secure the ERA.

But we can’t do it without you.

Just like public radio, we depend on our supporters and readers to keep Ms. strong. Our Sustaining Members enable Ms. to remain free of commercial advertisements, so you never have to worry that we will shy away from telling it like it is.

Please act today to become a Ms. Sustaining Member. Help keep Ms. and the feminist movement going strong. And keep spreading everyday rebellion!

For equality,
