Laura Nyro was one of the most talented singer songwriters in popular music but unfortunately not many people know about her as she never had a big selling album or single during her career. Many others sucessfully covered her songs and had top ten hits with them in the late 60's and early 70's. In my book, Laura Nyro is right up there with Joni Mitchell and Carol King as one of the greatest female singer songwriters ever. This was a CBS Sunday Morning story on her from 2001, several years after Laura passed away from ovarian cancer at age 49. Do yourself a favor and get Laura's first two albums: 1967's More Than A New Discovery and 1968's Eli & The 13th Confession. You will not be disappointed.
