Dear Common Ills, It’s National Voter Registration Week. There’s no single action you can take that’s more important right now than registering to vote. You see, the outcome of the 2022 elections will determine whether the republicans succeed in banning abortion nationwide – even in your state – and preventing the Equal Rights Amendment from being added to the U.S. Constitution. BY REGISTERING TO VOTE, you will be taking the first step in maintaining Democratic control of the House of Representatives and adding two Democratic seats to the U.S. Senate. 
With control of the House and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate we can finally enact at nationwide law to assure safe, legal abortion AND add the ERA to the Constitution. You see, if we can win the critical battle to enshrine the amendment in the U.S. Constitution, we will have won the best, most permanent guarantee for protection of abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, voting rights and virtually every form of equality for women.
