With MAGA, it's always about burying the facts and deceiving the public

Aaron Parnas (MEDIASTOUCH NEWS) reports

The Texas Maternal Mortality Committee has announced that it will not be reviewing any deaths in the two years after the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and led to Texas passing one of the most restrictive abortion restrictions in the nation.

The Committee will be meeting for the next time on December 6th, where it will begin reviewing maternal deaths in 2024. But, the Committee has announced that it will not go through and review the backlog of maternal deaths in 2022 and 2023, causing a public outcry.

In making the decision, the Committee cited the need for efficiency in reviewing maternal deaths and the backlog of the cases that are currently present.

The public, however, is demanding that the Committee conduct a full review into deaths in 2022 and 2023, especially following recent reporting from ProPublica which made clear that there were at least three preventable maternal deaths in Texas due to the state's restrictive abortion ban.

Now, due to the Committee's decision, the public may never know the true cause of the maternal deaths that occurred in the post-Dobbs era, an era that was marked by restrictive abortion restrictions in Texas.

Facts don't matter to MAGA.  The only time they care about facts is when there's the threat that facts might be known.  That's why Marjorie Taylor Greene attacks NPR.  They don't want the public to know the truth.  They'd rather dispense lies on Elon Musk's social media -- lies like MTG's claim that the government was causing hurricanes.

The reality of our lives?  We're not supposed to know that under MAGA.

And then there's Vivek.

David McAfee (RAW STORY) reports:

Donald Trump appointed Ramaswamy, who lost the GOP primary against the current president-elect, to help run a new group called the Department of Governmental Efficiency, or simply, DOGE.

On Sunday, Ramaswamy took to social media to say, "The real 'threat to our democracy' is the unelected federal bureaucracy."

The unelected bureaucracy is what Vivek is.

And I'm going to say this nicely regarding RAW STORY once and only once -- we stopped the excerpt there because I'm not promoting Elon Musk's social media.  We've stopped with that because he is a threat and the left should not be helping him.  RAW STORY needs to stop including links to Twiiter -- I don't care whose account it is.  It needs to stop.  If we don't have enough self-respect to accomplish that, we're in a lot more trouble than anyone knows.

You want to quote from Twitter?  Fine.  You don't have to link to it.  If you're listening FLASHPOINTS on KPFA, you're not requited to link to it.  If Anthony Arnove says something you want to quote from the broadcast, you're not required to link,  You want to do a one-liner howler from one of Thomas Friedman's embarrassing NYT columns?  You're not required to link.  You can quote without linking to Twitter -- either by just doing the quote with no links or by doing a screen shot.

On the left there is no reason for us to be promoting Elon.  Ava and I spent four hours on piece that includes that as one of the points.

We're going to include this David McAfee story in tomorrow's snapshot. There's a problem with it.  It's a problem many outlets are making.  Ava and I asked some friends to read what we wrote for THIRD -- it'll probably go up in a little bit.  They gave us some good feedback but several also gave us feedback that was wrong.  And that's because the media keeps getting the Constitution wrong.  So we'll probably lead with McAfee's story which is a strong story but misses a key, legal point.

Meanwhile, old man racist Bernie Sanders can't stop whoring.  Sean Craig (THE DAILY BEAST) reports:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) heaped praise on MAGA billionaire Elon Musk’s plans to rein in defense spending as part of his Trump-appointed mission to find ways to slash government spending.

“Elon Musk is right,” tweeted Sanders on Sunday. “Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud. That must change.”

Oh, racist Bernie, apparently done praising the racist in Nebraska -- no, we don't need to follow his election plan -- a plan that failed, by the way -- is now praising Elon.

Well, racists hang together and Bernie's always been a racist.  Elements of the left have always tried to ignore that -- especially ignoring the racism of Bernie's trade deal dreams.

So Bernie has done his Mika and Joe and kissed Elon's ring.

Reality, the budgets that everyone should worry about?  The CIA budget.  That's the budget that comes with no real explanation and has no real accountability.  But saying that would probably be way too much to ever expect from liar and racist Bernie Sanders.

I'm not in the mood.  We dealt with Bernie in our piece -- Ava and I -- and I'm going to post this and then talk with Ava because I think our piece needs to go up at THIRD right now.
