Clinton avoids accountability, Colbert pimps

The usual braying monkeys are praising Stephen Colbert.

Why?

Did he get anything from the guest?

No.

He made the guest uncomfortable for a moment or two and then glad handed at the end of the interview.

The guest was on to promote a business that stands to enrich the guest.

So the guest got everything he wanted including a stamp of approval from some of Colbert's viewers just because he appeared on the show.

We're not promoting that guest's business.

We're not promoting that guest period.

Far better TV would have been Colbert not booking that guest and explaining why on a broadcast.

But Colbert got to appear (mildly) political and the guest got to grin and grimace and sell his wares.

If someone's a War Criminal, I don't think you sit down next to them for their infomercial.

It's really past time that the 'funny men' (this includes Jon Oliver) were held to a higher standard.

They're fumbling and buffoonery are greeted with applause by their screeching monkeys but it really fails to reach most people -- even most of their viewers.

We're not naming the War Criminal here.  We have before and will again.  But not while he's in the midst of his p.r. junket to sell his wares and enrich his own pocket.

From one War Hawk to another.

Hillary Clinton declared on CNN last night, "I have a much longer history than one vote, which I said was a mistake because of the way that it was done and how the Bush administration handled it."

There are so many problems with that statement.

First, yes, she does have more than just one vote.

And in 2008, that was an argument for her.

The Iraq War vote was wrong.

But maybe it wasn't typical of her nature.

Then came her tenure as Secretary of State where she embraced every act of war possible -- including Syria and Libya.

There was her disdain for whistle-blowers, her attacks on Chelsea Manning and Ed Snowden -- ironically, she's now accused of risking national security herself.

She is more than just one vote.

And she could use that argument in 2008 to say, "I'm not a blood thirsty tyrant."

But saying she's more than just one vote today means noting her War Hawk nature which is established and on the record.

"I have a much longer history than one vote, which I said was a mistake because of the way that it was done and how the Bush administration handled it."

She said it was a mistake.

But she can't shut her damn mouth, can she?

She's the liar who can't take accountability.

"I wrecked your car."

"But if that other car hadn't been on the road . . ."

"I have a much longer history than one vote, which I said was a mistake because of the way that it was done and how the Bush administration handled it."

Her vote was a mistake.

And then she adds "because of the way that it was done and how the Bush administration handled it."

No, you damn liar.

Iraq had no WMDs.

Iraq was not a threat.

These are the lies Hillary embraced with her vote.

And after saying she dealt with her vote in her last ghost written book -- no, she didn't deal with it -- she now wants to prove that she's still a liar.

"I have a much longer history than one vote, which I said was a mistake because of the way that it was done and how the Bush administration handled it."

The Iraq War was wrong.

No matter how it had been executed, it would have remained wrong.

It was built on lies.

Stop blaming everyone else for your poor judgment, take accountability.

She's such a liar.

That was far from her only lie last night.

We'll probably deal with at least one other in the next Iraq snapshot.

Jeff Stein (VOX) reports:

Bernie Sanders went after Hillary Clinton's record on Iraq at a CNN town hall event Monday night, attacking Clinton's vote to invade more aggressively than in previous debates.
"I have tried — as I hope you all know — not to run a negative campaign ... to keep this discussion on a high level where we debate the issues facing this country," Sanders said, standing up from his chair at the forum, held in Iowa a week before primary voting begins.
""The truth is that the most significant vote and issue regarding foreign policy that we have seen in this country in modern history is the vote on the War in Iraq," Sanders said. "I voted against the War in Iraq ... Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq."

"I said, 'No, I think that war is a dumb idea.'"

She voted for it.

And her latest spin is it was a mistake . . . because of what others did.

Not because she voted for it.

Not because of her poor judgment.

But because of what others did.

Four years of that in the White House?

Four years of everything that goes wrong happened because of somebody else?

Meanwhile, in Iraq:

  • Iraqi government crimes sentenced Iraqi Sunni scholar to death without guilt his name Abdul samad

  • Will FOREIGN POLICY IN FOCUS rush to offer outrage?  Of course not.  They don't care about Arabs.

    They've made that very clear.
