Season Finale ("Buddies for Hire") of The Gray Area

"I'M THE HINDENBURG BLIMP OF THE THEATRE!"

Episode 6 of The Gray Area, an audio drama told in interconnected stories that you can listen to for free, has just been released. "Buddies for Hire" is a screwball comedy directly inspired by Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye, various Howard Hawks films, and One, Two, Three.
In our season finale, a once celebrated and now fading actor Jack Penderton (played by Gore Abrams) desperately needs a job. His agent, Jill Swanson (Ingeborg Reidmaier), lands him a strange gig that involves becoming friends with a lonely scrapbook-loving eccentric (Carl Zurhorst), an unusual approach to free trade, a sinister salesman (Adriano La Rocca) who moves uncommonly fast, America’s Next Top Model, and an odd scam that causes Jack to reconsider his long abandoned principles about friendship, loyalty, and connection.
Additionally, we're very thrilled and incredibly honored to report that we have been named a Parsec Awards finalist in the Best Speculative Fiction Story (Novella Form) category. We've also made it to the semifinals of the Audio Verse Awards, where we are up for five categories: Best Writing for an Ongoing Production, Best Writing for a New Production, Best Writing for a Dramatic Production, Best Ongoing Production, and Best New Production. We couldn't be more excited and humbled by this very kind and quite surprising inclusion and we are honored to be included among some audio drama heavyweights. If you have enjoyed what you have listened to so far, please be sure to vote for us by October 30th (along with many of the other fine nominees). You can access the voting form through this link. And don't forget to support many of the other fine audio drama practitioners who are also nominated!
We are now hard at work writing the second season of The Gray Area, which will be even bigger and more ambitious than the first season. Be sure to listen to our past episodes for vital clues on how the story comes together.
You can also follow our ongoing production process on our Instagram account, where we regularly upload foley videos and other behind-the-scenes adventures.
We also have a Twitter tie-in story that will help listeners piece together some of the larger narrative.
We can also be found on Patreon (if you'd like to help support our efforts: rewards include a new behind-the-scenes podcast called Inside the Gray Area that we recently launched, as well as access to the annotated scripts), iTunesGoogle PlayLibsynStitcher, and we have an RSS feed! And since we've received some requests from our listeners, we now have a SoundCloud page featuring all of our episodes.
Thank you for listening!
Edward Champion
