Dear Common Ills,
Welcome back to campus! As you begin the new semester, we’re excited to get back to work with you--we’d love to hear about what feminist activities you or your group are looking forward to this fall semester. Tell us here!
At Feminist Campus, we’re mobilizing for our feminist present and future. There’s a Fall Feminist Syllabus below to get started. Check it out, pick your projects, and let’s get to work.
But wait--in order to mobilize, we need ALL of our people. Start the semester off right by updating us on your Feminist Campus group’s information. Filling out the form will enter your group into a raffle drawing to win 1 FREE YEAR of Ms. magazine! Already graduated? No problem! Forward this email to the current campus group leaders and look out for an invitation to join our Feminist Alumni Network.
Also, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram It’s a great way to stay connected to feminist news, actions, and resources from us!
Now, to the Fall Feminist Syllabus. On the syllabus this fall is:
Ratifying the ERA: The Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified in 37 states already! Yaaaay! This means we only need ONE MORE STATE to sign on and enshrine gender equality in the U.S. constitution. We’re looking to make this happen in Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona, or Louisiana. Are you in any of these states and interested in advocating for the ERA? Sign up here and an organizer will reach out to you!
Vote Feminist 2019: This November, elections are happening across the country. Voting is an essential tool--especially in non-presidential election years--to gain power to build our feminist future. Our Vote Feminist campaign has the tools, strategies, and resources to get students on your campus to the polls. Want to be a part of getting out the vote? Sign up here and an organizer will reach out to you!
Adopt-a-Clinic: Abortion bans have been sweeping the country and with the domestic gag rule imposed on clinics recieving Title X family planningfunding, clinics are under attack again. Over the summer one of our organizers, Shivani, worked with students and community members to serve as clinic escorts and legal observers at an independent abortion clinic facing wide-scale harassment from anti-abortion extremists. She saw firsthand the power of students (like you!) volunteering to protect their local clinic. Interested in volunteering at your local clinic? Sign up here and an organizer will reach out to you!
Interested in other elective courses? Check out all of our Feminist Campaigns here. We’re also in the beginning stages of designing new campaigns on menstrual equity, climate change, immigration, and gun violence.
Interested in shaping these campaigns? Keep your eyes open for a follow-up email.
So what are you waiting for? Gather your people, pick a campaign from the Fall Feminist Syllabus, and join the movement. Don’t get left behind.
In Solidarity,
Carmen, Clarie, Emily, and Joy
P.S. NYFLC is back next year. Get excited!! Whether it’ll be your first time attending or your 4th time, we’re excited to see you. Stay tuned for the dates.
P.P.S. Still don’t know where you or your group fit into the reproductive rights and justice movement? No problem. Sign up for a 15 minute check-in and we’ll work through it with you.
