The House of Representatives begins public impeachment hearings against President Donald Trump tomorrow.
Detroit Public TV and PBS will offer extensive live coverage of the proceedings across its many platforms beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday and 9 a.m. ET on Friday, with expert analysis from the PBS NewsHour team.
Viewers can tune into the hearings:
Coverage is expected to last approximately four hours each day.
In addition, the hearings will re-air in primetime on the WORLD channel (56.4) from 7-11 p.m. ET Wednesday and Friday. And they will be available on-demand free of charge across all the above digital platforms.
Each evening, “PBS NewsHour” and “Amanpour & Company” will provide extensive coverage of the hearings.
The first witnesses before the House Intelligence Committee will be Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat for Ukraine, and George Kent, the deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.
After opening statements, Rep. Adam Schiff, the House Intelligence Committee chair, and Devin Nunes, the committee’s ranking Republican member, will each be given 45 minutes to ask questions. Then other lawmakers will be allowed to question the witnesses.
The open hearing marks the start of a new phase in the impeachment probe and comes after lawmakers conducted a series of closed-door interviews with people who have knowledge about U.S. policy toward Ukraine.

The impeachment inquiry centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 political candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

On Friday, Marie Yovanovitch, the ambassador to Ukraine who was removed from her position, is scheduled to testify.

Parents and caregivers needn’t worry. DPTV’s full schedule of high-quality, curriculum-based children’s programming will be available all day on the main channel (56.1) and the 24-7 Detroit PBS KIDS channel (56.2).
