Friend,
2020 is The Year of Truth for Black America. A pandemic has ravaged communities of color,[1] the death of George Floyd and the uprisings have centered racial justice in our society,[2] and one of the most racist Presidents in modern American history is doing everything in his power to cancel and compromise the national election in November.
For the last 401 years, Black people in America have had our bodies and rights under attack from the country we built from the base up. As we mourn Congressman John Lewis, we honor his life by ensuring that every Black American has the right to the vote which he lived his entire life protecting. After all, as the Congressman said: “The vote is the most powerful non violent tool we have.”
In this Year of Truth, Hip Hop Caucus is calling on you to join the Respect My Vote! Campaign; a call to action to ensure that every Black voice is heard on election day. Voting is a tool through which to make change on the issues that impact our lives and communities, and for hundreds of years we have been denied access to that tool through explicit acts of violence. That ends NOW.
This is the Year Of Truth. Take the pledge to VOTE in 2020!
2020 is the year that Black Lives Matter was the protest cry across the United States cities and across the world. For Black lives to truly matter, Black votes must be counted. Hip Hop Caucus, through our Respect My Vote! campaign, is calling for on everyone to pledge to vote!
Stand with Hip Hop Caucus: Pledge to Vote!
Voter suppression has haunted Black America for centuries. This evil, like so many others, ends now.
For Future Generations,
