Friend, Streets are melting in Europe right now, and the United States isn’t far behind. Wildfires are raging, streets are literally melting [1], and people’s lives are at risk due to a lack of air conditioning across the continent. This is what we mean when we say climate impacts are life and death issues. Now that the Supreme Court gave a green light to polluters in West Virginia v. EPA, our nation’s protections from air pollution and climate change that we fought for are all at risk. And what looks like it will be the hottest summer on record may well be one of the coolest summers we experience for the rest of our lifetimes. We also know that the climate crisis is not an equal opportunity oppressor. Black, Brown, Indigenous, and immigrant communities are bearing the brunt of this crisis and we cannot allow this to continue. The Supreme Court’s decision to make us fend for ourselves in the climate crisis has only reinforced our drive to keep pushing for the protections we deserve. Hip Hop Caucus works tirelessly to advocate for solutions to address the climate catastrophe we’re facing, and take a stand against greedy corporate polluters.
