Matt Damon's acting is part of the reason film's suck. As for the 'explanation' he's offering. No.
Just no. He's an idiot He's always been an idiot, he's now a fat idiot. Matt's never been a star -- despite being shoved down our throats. He's always been an unattractive, no-neck monster. I know Matt. i know Ben Affleck. I often type, "I know and like Ben." I never type "I know and like Matt." There's a reason for that. Saager's an idiot for listening to Matt and thinking he's wise.
Movies suck -- if they do -- for the same reasons they've sucked for decades now. His nonsense about streaming? He's referring to lower budget films -- not low budget films. Studios moved away from them long ago. They want tentpole movies and have for some time.
This goes to why independent films rose so high in the 90s. This has to do with packaging issues (packaging elements) in the 70s, it's got to do with this and with that.
Matt's ahistorical approach may amuse some. But he's an idiot and always has been.
If needed, we can go into this issue at length -- here, at one of the community newsletters or at THIRD. But his 'explanation' is just more garbage from a man who chose to keep the status quo in place when he had a chance to make actual change.
And that, timidity, is how you get the awful FOREST GUMP winning for Best Picture instead of PULP FICTION and it's how you get so much garbage on the big screen.
