Isakson to Hold Hearing on Implementation of VA Reforms
‘The State of the VA: A Progress Report on Implementing 2017 VA Reform Legislation’
WASHINGTON – The Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, chaired by U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., will hold an oversight hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. to hear from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding its implementation of VA reform legislation signed into law in 2017.
Last year, the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs passed 10 major pieces of veterans legislation – all of which have been signed into law – that aim to strengthen veterans’ health care, benefits and support. The committee’s hearing will focus on the ongoing implementation of those reforms by the VA.

The Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs is chaired by U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., in the 115th Congress. Isakson is a veteran himself – having served in the Georgia Air National Guard from 1966-1972 – and has been a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs since he joined the Senate in 2005. Isakson’s home state of Georgia is home to more than a dozen military installations representing each branch of the armed services as well as more than 750,000 veterans.
