Help fund the demonstration to fight GM factory closings

Autoworkers are currently organizing a march in front of the General Motors headquarters in Detroit on Saturday, February 9. The demonstration is to fight the company’s plans to shut five factories in the US and Canada and eliminate nearly 15,000 hourly and salaried workers. GM's plans to close these factories threaten tens of thousands more jobs throughout the auto parts industry. Even if you're not an autoworker, this has enormous implications for the rest of the working class. The attack on GM workers is an attack on every worker in the US and internationally.  As the wildcat strikes of 70,000 Mexican workers in Matamoros, Mexico, have shown over the last two weeks, momentum is building for a serious, united struggle by autoworkers across North America. But there is no time to lose: we need your financial supportto pay for the significant costs of publicizing and preparing the demonstration on February 9.  Give $10, $50, $100 This is not a rally called by the UAW or Democratic Party to blow off steam or to ask the pro-company union to fight. It is a demonstration of workers, by workers to harness the strength of the entire working class to demand the plants stay open and reverse the decades-long declines in living standards. The demonstration has been called by the Steering Committee of the Coalition of Rank-and-File Committees and is endorsed by the WSWS Autoworker Newsletter as well as the Socialist Equality Party. The steering committee is made up of autoworkers from Michigan and Indiana, along with workers from Amazon and other companies. This is the only demonstration taking place independent of and in opposition to the UAW, Unifor and the big business political parties. To build this event, we need at least $3,000 so that we can print leaflets, aggressively promote and advertise on Facebook, and mobilize workers across the US, Canada and Mexico.
