Washington D.C. - U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) applauded the Senate’s vote to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) today. Pence’s OORAH Act, H.R. 2790, is included in the package and now heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

“The NDAA is on its way to President Trump’s desk in a huge victory for our nation’s men and women in uniform. I am honored my OORAH bill was included. We are on our way to the President’s desk, and one step closer to helping our Gold Star Families,” said Congressman Pence. “I applaud President Trump’s work to fight for this legislation and his support of our military, and I look forward to seeing the NDAA and the OORAH Act signed into law.”

Pence, a United States Marine Corps and Beirut Veteran, introduced the OORAH Act in May to help Gold Star Families reach justice for the 1983 Marine Barracks terrorist attackThe OORAH Act allows the Gold Star Families of that attack to access $1.68 billion in frozen Iranian funds. Pence's bill passed the House with bipartisan support as an amendment to H.R. 3494 in July, and is now included in the NDAA for FY2020.
