Trump Signs NDAA, Greg Pence Legislation Becomes Law

Washington D.C.  Today, U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) proudly stood with President Trump as he signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. The final package included Pence’s OORAH Act, legislation to help Gold Star Families get a step closer to justice following the 1983 Marine Barracks terrorist attack. Pence released the following statement:

“Today is a victory for our brave armed forces. I am proud and honored the OORAH Act was included in the NDAA, so we can help Gold Star Families dear to my heart achieve a bit of the justice they truly deserve,” said Congressman Pence. “With this signature legislation signed into law, our men and women in uniform are more supported than ever. I applaud President Trump’s support of our military and his work to fight for the NDAA.”

Pence, a United States Marine Corps and Beirut Veteran, introduced the Our Obligation to Recognize American Heroes (OORAH) Act of 2019H.R. 2790in May. The OORAH Act allows the Gold Star Families of that attack to access $1.68 billion in frozen Iranian funds. Pence's bill passed the House with bipartisan support as an amendment to H.R. 3494 in July, was included in the NDAA Conference Report, and passed both Chambers with bipartisan support before heading to President Trump’s desk.

A summary of the conference report, signed into law by President Trump, is available here
