DRUM CORPS WORLD June Issue Now Available

Dear Reader,

In less than one month a monumental season will begin for Drum Corps International as that organization (and this publication) celebrate 50th anniversaries.
These past five decades have experienced great change in the drum and bugle corps activity across North America.

This movement has also spread too many countries outside of the United States and Canada.
Unfortunately, what we’ve all been through these last two years has made operating a successful corps more challenging than it was before COVID.  Corps are now facing not only rising fuel and food costs, but challenges with finding rental trucks to pull their trailers and continuing housing problems and costs during the summer tour.

I’m aware of several groups that will not appear in the field this summer, including the Seattle Cascades, Kidsgrove Scouts (U.K.), Shadow, The Company (U.K.) and Spirit of Atlanta.  While bringing a corps back into competition will be difficult, I think we all share the same hope that there is still a future for these corps and hopefully for brand-new corps that may be in the planning stages as I write this.

We all are looking forward to the return to competition, exciting programs produced by every corps and safe travels for fans and for all the drum corps.

There will be eight magazines scheduled after this one is released, including three monthly issues and five weekly editions, getting back to a normal list of 17 issues per year.
On to to a great 2022 season!
