Tomorrow is our last day posting the World Socialist Web Site in 2019. It has been a year of unprecedented activity and analysis by the World Socialist Web Site. To those who have already given this month: Thank you for making this possible! This year, we published a total of 5,308 articles. This included:
- 324 articles on the global struggle of autoworkers
- 682 articles on the Trump administration and the faction fight within the US ruling class
- 267 articles on Julian Assange
- 210 articles on the international assault on the rights of immigrants
- 121 articles on the growth of social inequality
- 549 articles on the danger of imperialist war
- dozens of film reviews and many more on the arts, history, science
We did not merely comment on events, we intervened in them, leading the fight to free Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning, to unite US and Mexican autoworkers, to oppose the resurgence of fascism in Germany, to expose pseudo-socialists like Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn, and to reject the New York Times' racialist 1619 Project. And despite censorship from Google, Facebook and Twitter, our readership reached new highs.
This fight did not come easy. Each article requires hours and hours of careful research, writing, discussion and editing. By a rough estimate, we spend about a full work day--8 hours--on each article (sometimes many more).
Using this rough estimate, that means we spent a total of 42,000 staff hours producing the WSWS this year.
