On May 7, over eighty academics, activists, journalists, lawyers, human rights campaigners, and whistleblowers came together for an International Festival of Whistleblowing, Dissent and Accountability. Panels were held for nearly 24 hours. Facilitator Deepa Driver put together quite an impressive lineup and invited me to join Michael Albert, Max Blumenthal, Jimmy Dore, Chamira Gamage, John Kiriakou, Joe Lauria, Iain Munro, Jeffrey Sterling, and Stephen Rohde for a panel, "Whistleblowing, Investigative Journalism, Freedom, Democracy, and Solidarity." Unfortunately, I had a family engagement and was not able to join. Deepa allowed me to submit a video with some recorded comments for the conference. The recording will be part of the archive of the event (though it did not air during the panel). Here are my remarks as prepared for the conference
